TOEFL Speaking Practice 06 Where do most like to go to eat out? Describe this place and say why you like it most.
Most people these days like to eat on stands then cooking at home and eat and I am no exception. On the stands all type of foods are available e.g. vegan, non-vegetarian in various cuisines like Indian, Mexican, Chinese etc. Secondly most stalls are self service type and service is fast. Hence I get my favourite food fast and can push off to work. Cooking at home calls for storing of grocery, utensils, gas cylinders, burners and stoves etc. Cooking itself is a subject and it is a lengthy process and needs good lot of time. After eating washing of utensils, dish washing and cleaning is required that calls for lot of labour and time. In this fast era of computerization time is a constraint. Hence I prefer to eat on stands instead of cooking at home. For a change I can switch over to another stand which is not possible if I cook at home.

After six months the most painful phase of physiotherapy and walking on crutches started and lasted for three months. I was badly depressed and gloomy but she always inspired me to be active and encouraged me to be physically as fit as before. She even inspired and encouraged I to acquire higher professional qualification because of this I received many promotions in my job. Because of all these qualities of my wife Manju, I consider her to be the person who inspired me and motivated me always.

My most important possession is my house. I constructed it and occupied in the year 1988. I borrowed a loan from my employer and some shortfall I managed from my savings in Provident Fund. I have 3 Master Bed Rooms, One Drawing Room, One Dining Room and a spacious kitchen. Front and Back Yards are open for front garden and kitchen garden. I constructed this house with an investment of Rs.4/= Lac and today its price is greater than Rs.40/= Lac. Great scarcity of land, Skyrocketing land prices and enormous inflation makes my house an important possession. These days if one wants to have this kind of a house he or she shall have to shell down Ten times higher price (Say Rs.40/= Lac) This is my most priced and important possession. I love my home sweet home so much that I would never rent it out or sell it.

TOEFL Speaking Practice 03 "What is your happiest childhood memory?"
3. What is your happiest childhood memory? Describe it and give reasons to explain why it is your happiest memory.
~~~
My Happiest Childhood Memory
I attended Second All India Scouts and Guides Jamboree when I was 14 years. This was held at Bani Park in Jaipur, Rajasthan from 27th December to 31st December 1956. More than 10,000 Scouts and Guides from all over India participated. The cold there was really bone chilling and I had to stay in the tent with all my school mates. Morning 6 use to be a wakeup call on Army Bigul. Within 45 minutes we used to get ready and reach parade ground. Witnessing 10000 Scouts and Guides in uniform and colour party with colourful flags ready for parade was a superb and smart scene. Commands were given on loud speakers with the background music of band. What a fabulous music and parade scene. It was hilarious. We used to make breakfast, lunch, tea/coffee and supper ourselves. Doing laundry and cleaning utensils was also part of our activities. This makes us independent so we can take care of the things we need ourselves. Early evenings we were allowed to move in the entire jamboree area and meet new people, interact and make friends. We were there for five days and enjoyed a lot. This is one of my happiest and the best childhood memories.
“Zoo”
“Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A zoo has no useful purpose. Use specific reasons and examples to explain your answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It will be wrong to say that a zoo has no useful purpose. I shall elaborate on the purpose and usefulness of Zoos.
A zoo is also known as zoological garden or a zoological park. This is a facility in which animals are kept within enclosures and displayed to the public, and in those enclosures animals breed too. The term zoological garden refers to the biological discipline zoology, which derives from Greek. Most modern zoos display wild animals primarily for the conservation of endangered species and for educational and research purposes, and secondarily for the entertainment of visitors.
However many animal rights activists disapprove of zoos because they interpret zoos as human domination over animals and criticize their educational value as being superficial. Some animal welfare groups however do not reject the existence of zoos, but seek to remedy the unnatural and unhealthy conditions wherein captive animals’ live, particularly the problem of small cages and lack of environmental enrichment. Some zoos are unable to provide adequate food and care to their animals’ because of lack of funds. However many of the large and scientifically oriented institutions work to improve the animal enclosures, although constraints like size and expense makes it difficult to create ideal captive environments for some species.
Some zoos concentrate on aquariums and amusement parks. Aquariums are made for the water species like various kinds of fishes. Those fishes have variety of very attractive colors and designs that attracts everyone, especially children like it the most and feel delighted.
In conclusion the biggest usefulness of a zoo is the conservation of endangered species, secondly the breeding that prevents the extinction, thirdly the education and research work and last but least amusement and entertainment of the visitors and tourists that brings revenue to the nation.

“Young People Teach Older Ones”
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? There is nothing that young people can teach older people. Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I totally disagree with the statement that there is nothing that young people cannot teach the older ones. I shall elaborate my viewpoint in the following paragraphs.
We are living in the new millennium, the most advanced technological era in history. One is confronted with a plethora of knowledge and information. While young people possess an ability to learn new concepts and absorb information faster and easier many older are unaware of new products or ideas. Those could be taught to the old by young.
The computer, for old people, has emerged as the first barrier and stigma. With a computer, one can work without paper and pencil, obtain useful searches on the Internet or make online purchases from ones home. However, many older people are not able to do these things since using a computer initially demands a little of knowledge and skill. However teaching our grandparents how to use a computer in order that they could discover many benefits and pleasures are a most pleasurable experience.
In addition to new technological products, ideas or concepts that have helped shape young people can be conveyed to old people. Many old people believe that health means the absence of disease. Yet many of us have realized that the notion of being healthy contains psychological, emotional and social health factors too rather than simply living without illness. Those scientific notions could be learned by old people from their children. The old must learn something new from youngsters in order to adjust to a modern lifestyle and become healthier.
Summing-up, in modern society it is the young who are at the forefront of the era and possess updated knowledge thereby young teach many new things to older ones.
“World Losing Natural Resources”
Many parts of the world are losing important natural resources, such as forests, animals, or clean water. Choose one resource that is disappearing and explain why it needs to be saved. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One of the fastest depleting resources is the oil and gas. As the population is increasing continuously, basic needs for fresh water, food, housing and fuel make unprecedented demands on our global and local ecosystems. Additionally there is great demand for more material goods and services. As we strive to increase material wealth, comforts and conveniences, the pressure on biodiversity and natural resources tremendously increase. Overpopulation calls for enormous housing constructions this causes trees falling and jungle cutting thereby causing imbalance of ecology resulting into loss of animal life. In addition, more vehicles are needed that cause environment pollution. And heat emission by automobiles adds to Global Warming.
Because of numerous automobiles and their use, one of the fastest depleting resources is the oil and gas. This is a non-renewable resource that cannot be re-made, re-grown or regenerated in proportion to its consumption. The rate of consumption of oil and gas is much higher than its rate of reformation by nature.
Greater demand of housing and industrialization causes deforestation having an adverse effect on ecology and animal life. The needs for water and power have also skyrocketed. Loss of cattle results into shortage of milk and dairy products. Many farmers employ bullocks in carts and also for cultivating fields. Furthermore horses, donkeys, camels and elephants are employed for transport, running of carriages, lifting and shifting of heavy loads. Similarly sheep is used for production of wool. Chickens and eggs are used as food for humans. Therefore it is important to protect species and live in harmony.
Summarizing, the fastest depleting resource of oil and gas that take millions of years to re-form naturally and cannot be replaced as fast as it is consumed, it is vital to conserve and protect this resource from extinction.

“Working For Small or Big Company”
Some people prefer to work for a large company. Others prefer to work for small company. Which would you prefer? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I prefer working for a large company because of its various advantages over a small company. In this essay I shall elaborate those advantages.
By working in large companies one gets greater exposure and more valuable experience compared to small. Because the larger scope of work the opportunities are plenty for gaining work experience. Secondly large companies give handsome salary and lucrative perquisites. In addition to many other facilities like full medical reimbursements for employee and his or her dependents, petrol allowances, home loan and education loan to its employees. Employee’s chances for promotions are bright. In addition big companies give many fringe benefits like Leave encashment, Leave Travel Concession for home town and other than home town also.
So far as medical facilities are concerned, they are available not only for employee but for the direct dependents too. Also full medical coverage is given by some big companies for the life time of employee and his or her direct dependents even after the retirement of the employee. This is the biggest benefit.
On the other hand, large companies often offer employee stock option plans which, if managed correctly, employee can make handsome wealth in addition to yearly bonus. Big companies have advantages over small companies. Intangible gains to employees are great.
Last but not least, job security in big companies is better compared to smaller ones. Small companies, have fewer advantages in comparison to large companies. Nevertheless to begin with one may start the career from smaller companies for the purpose of acquiring experience. Thereafter he or she may switch over to larger company after acquiring adequate experience. This brightens ones future career.
In nutshell, working in larger companies is far more beneficial compared to working in smaller companies.
“Work With Group or Alone”
Is it more important to be able to work with a group of people on a team or to work independently? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I opine, one must be able to work with the group with a good team spirit. Working in isolation is not good.
A person who works in isolation becomes introvert and would not develop or learn new ways and means of working. A person of this type cannot work in a large corporation employing many thousand employees.
Teamwork is the concept of people working together cooperatively, as in a sports team.
Projects require that people work together, so teamwork has become an important concept everywhere. Effective teams are an intermediary goal towards getting good, sustainable results. The essentials of team work are: -
• Listen to other people's ideas. When people are allowed to freely express their ideas, these initial ideas will produce other ideas.
• Ask questions, interact, and discuss the objectives of the team.
• Treat others with respect and to support their ideas.
• Help one's coworkers, which is the general theme of teamwork.
• Share with the team to create an environment of teamwork
• All members of the team are encouraged to participate in the team.
• For a team to work effectively it is essential team members acquire communication skills and use effective communication channels between one another e.g. using email, verbal communication, group meetings and so on. This will enable team members or the group to work together and achieve the team’s purpose and common goals.
In conclusion team workers are good listeners and diplomats, talented at smoothing over conflicts and helping parties understand each other without becoming confrontational and they are most successful in the present era. Hence it is most important to be able to work in a group instead of working independently in isolation.

“Work By Hand or Machines”
Some people like doing work by hand. Others prefer using machines. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
I prefer to work with machines and not manually. The reason is that world has advanced like anything and all the jobs that were done before a couple of centuries by man are now being done by machines. In order to keep pace with the time one must learn to work with machines and be more productive or else one cannot survive.
Man, through the ages, has undergone innumerable magical changes from time to time. In the ancient times man lived in the jungles in caves and hutments made by wild grass and vegetation. Now men live in beautiful houses with all facilities and amenities of the life. For transportation of self and materials, mankind used animals like horses, camels, donkeys, zebras and bullocks etc. Man used to have carts pulled by those animals and the transport process used to be exorbitantly time consuming, slow and very tiresome. The 20th century made giant leaps towards progress and development on all dimensions.
Now mankind has motor vehicles for his or her own transport and transporting materials.
Even daily domestic chores like washing and laundry are carried out by respective machines.
Furthermore computer application and technology is used in our all day to day activities including business. Computers have been applied in Education, Information, Media, Entertainment, Transport, Health monitoring and treatment, Banking, Buying, Selling, Trading, Communicating with near and dear by electronic mail or chatting; including outer space travel.
In conclusion, once mankind has progressed and advanced so much, now again going back to manual labor does not sound wise and appropriate nor it is rewarding in any way.

“While In New Country Adopt New Customs or Not”
When people move to another country, some of them decide to follow the customs of the new country. Others prefer to keep their own customs. Compare these two choices. Which one do you prefer? Support your answer with specific detail.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I prefer to adopt the customs of the new country where I go and live. I believe in the philosophy that: - “When In Rome, Do As the Romans Do” means that when you are visiting a new place, you should try to do as the people do who are from the place. Example: "I can't eat that." Reply: "Oh, give it a try. This is merely an arrangement of a few words that makes the country man happy, no harm any way.
People from different places have different ways of acting, so it is important to try to do things the way people do who are from the place that you are visiting. One cannot dictate his rules when he or she is a guest to someone.
Visiting a new country is an opportunity for the one to see a new place, feel new environment, and know new people, new culture, and new customs. In addition one makes new friends and establishes new contacts. This all brings out a novelty in the life that is most pleasing and exciting. So why miss such a golden opportunity?
Also one should never forget that although every change offers a resistance, changes are always for good. Changes are inevitable. Changes are a way of life. One likes it or not changes are bound to be there. Hence one must not only accept the change, rather he or she must welcome them. Not accepting change is like trying to swim against the current that is extremely strenuous and in the process one may drown even.
In conclusion, the best policy in a new country would be to learn and honor their culture and practice their customs.
“Whether Third-Level Education is Necessary for Success”
Is a third-level education necessary for success?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is very difficult to answer the claim that a person needs a university education to be successful in life because success in life means different things to different people. This essay starts by defining three different ideas of success. Following this, it looks at which types of success are dependent on a university education.
Success in life can be achieved in different ways. Many magazines and television programs tell us that success means having a lot of money, having a fulfilling career, and being powerful. In contrast, most religious and spiritual organizations claim that success means finding spiritual happiness and being at peace with God and with you. Another idea of success focuses on relationships - being surrounded by people who love you and care about you, spending time with family and friends.
A university education can help you achieve some types of success, but it makes little or no difference to whether or not you are successful in other areas of life. Undoubtedly, a university education is essential if you want to have a career in a profession such as law, engineering, teaching, or medicine. However, you do not need a university degree to become a wealthy and powerful movie star, sports star or businessperson. In fact, a university education does not generally enable you to achieve spiritual happiness, or to have successful relationships with family and friends.
In conclusion, there are many facets of success. A university education may help you to achieve professional success in some careers. However, it will not help you to achieve success in other areas of your life such as your spiritual life or your relationships. Hence it is impossible to generalize that third-level education necessary for success.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Community service refers to the service that a person performs for the benefit of the local community. People become involved in community service for a range of several reasons like serving community and making friends etc. The term "community service" therefore refers to projects those members of certain youth organizations, such as the Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts and some high school students perform. However it is also an alternative sentencing technique in a justice system. And at times groups of people will commit to perform service to the community as a gesture to the larger community, as part of gift economics.
Examples of some of the community service projects may include: -
1. Cleaning a park;
2. Collecting much needed items including clothes, shoes, food, blankets, etc.;
“What Characteristics You Want In Friend”
What do you want most in a friend — someone who is intelligent, or someone who has a sense of humor, or someone who is reliable? Which one of these characteristics is most important to you? Use reasons and specific examples to explain your choice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We as human beings live in a society and we are all social creatures. All of us have some friends and in turn we are friends to them. We communicate with our friends and so they do. Everyone would like reliable and trustworthy friends. Good friends try and help each other how best one can and solve problems with mutual help. Friends must be reliable, honest, trustworthy, and cooperative. In turn there has to be an equal reciprocation.
Sometimes we may be residing too far away from our parents, brothers, sisters and close relatives or friends, depending upon our work and business location and demands; however the friends are the only people who live near us. Hence in any unforeseen and uncalled for contingency like our sickness, an accidental injury it is the friend who comes forward and helps us. Here I am reminded of a couple of old proverbs;
“A Friend in Need Is A Friend Indeed” // “A Good Friend Is A Priceless Treasure”.
Nowadays the culture has changed. Now instead of interacting face to face, people prefer to talk on telephone or the cell phone or internet. This culture has reduced the personal touch in human interaction and thus relation, very specially friendship. Some individuals have turned out to be quite reserved and introvert. These are however not the qualities expected of a good friend.
In conclusion some of the expected good qualities of a friend are reliability, honesty, trustworthiness, and cooperation. We too must equally reciprocate with those qualities, for an everlasting fast friendship. Intelligence and sense of humor however don’t matter at all matter in a true friendship.

“Visit a Foreign Country”
You have the opportunity to visit a foreign country for two weeks. Which country would you like to visit? Use specific reasons and details to explain your choice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If I get an opportunity, I shall visit USA Los Angeles. There are many things to do there in Los Angeles. This county and sprawling city is situated in an area that is renowned worldwide for its entertainment industry, high-end shopping areas, and the theme parks.
There are neighborhoods like Beverly Hills and Hollywood. Hollywood is known for Hollywood Boulevard and the famous bronze stars with the name of famous Hollywood actors on them on the Walk of Fame. Also there is the Mann’s Chinese Theatre. This is an impressive Asian-styled theatre that has elaborate decorations on its front. The plaza in front of the Chinese Theatre also bears the marks of Hollywood stars. Many of them have their handprints in the cement, similar to ceremonies of the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame. Outside, there are actors dressed in interesting costumes from a movie, or as a star like Superman or Marilyn Monroe. They’re happy to take a picture with you, and they appreciate the tips they get from tourists on a Los Angeles Vacation. I would love to get photographed with super stars. At night, the nearby Universal City Walk comes to life. The bright lights of this glittering promenade advertise the cool stores, nightclubs, eateries and movie theatres. This is highly an entertaining place to spend time.
Also there are many nearby ocean side cities such as San Diego, and the miles of California Beaches, one would feel flabbergasted. On the top of everything, my nephew and nieces are citizens here, so stay and transport are no problem to me these are added advantages to me. Hence I would have Los Angeles vacation with my family for a couple of weeks.
“Types of Movies”
Some movies are serious, designed to make the audience think. Other movies are designed primarily to amuse and entertain. Which type of movie do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I prefer to watch comedy movies. I am a great fan of Charlie – Chaplin & Laurel – Hardy. Comedy movies are highly amusing and entertaining. Comedy movies and programs make you laugh too much like anything. It is a popular saying that: -
“Laughter Is the Best Medicine” and this fact has been worldwide accepted.
Several TV soaps are available these days. Those are popularly called serials. TV Serials are telecasted in the form of family movies, social movies, crime movies and fiction movies. Serious family movie programs show lot of adversities and tragedies based on imaginary stories. Showing a lot of adversities and tragedies may make viewers sad and depressed. Mostly viewers, while watching, become so much involved that they start feeling a part of the tragedies themselves and start weeping and feel deeply depressed, gloomy and sad. At the end of the show they leave the hall with chocked throats and a great hangover of the tragedies. In a way such movies do more harm than good. When one wants entertainment he or she must watch a move that entertains and does not cause sadness.
Many educative movies on Health And Wellbeing, De-Addiction, Community Service, Science And Technology, History, Religion, Culture, Music, Dance, Art, Games And Sports etc certainly make viewers think a little but that is all for good. Movies must be the source of entertainment and not depression and sadness.
In conclusion, I strongly feel that in this fast age when people are tension mounted and have no time for their entertainment and amusement. In such an era I would prefer comedy movies and Laughter Shows because those are the best for relaxation and overcoming tension.

“Travel With Companion or Alone”
Some people like to travel with a companion. Other people prefer to travel alone. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I prefer to travel with a companion. However it depends upon individual’s choice whether travel solo or with companion. In this essay I will elaborate merits and demerits of either of the modus-operandi.
Merits of traveling solo are: that one can meet and interact with more people. Go where and when one wants to go. One can go with whomever he or she wants to go. This allows one to find his or her travel techniques. One is independent.
Demerits of solo travel are: Traveling alone can be intimidating. One must overcome any shyness he or she has in order to meet other people. One may have to take decision boldly where, when and how to go and for what duration. And once the person is at a new destination, what shall be the further course of his or her action. This requires great effort than letting someone else make all or most of the decisions.
Merits of traveling with companion are: One always has someone to talk to/consult with. One can share food, clothing, toiletries, accommodations, etc. thereby saving room in your pack and sometimes money. One will have someone to share his or her memories and photography. One may forge lifelong friendship with the travel companion.
Demerits of traveling with a companion are: Being with the same person 365 days can be very annoying. Depending on someone strange can be risky because people can flake out on you e.g. take all your money, abandon you, etc. Memories of your trip may turn out to be nightmares because of constant fighting over where to go and what to see etc.
In nutshell considering the above, one may decide to travel solo or with a partner depending upon his or her sweet will.
“Traditional House versus Modern Apartment”
Would you prefer to live in a traditional house or in a modern apartment building? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would prefer live in a traditional house to a modern apartment. In this essay I will elaborate how living in a traditional house is superior to modern apartment.
Unlike an apartment, traditional house has four side open land that is available to me. I can have a front yard garden to sit and relax and in the back yard I can develop kitchen garden that I am fond of. In the front garden I can develop variety of beautiful flowers like rose, lily, and lilac, jasmine with a lush green lawn with go-carting that I love the most. In the kitchen garden I can develop some vegetables like peas, chilies, lady’s finger, French beans etc. also I can grow and develop a few trees giving fruits like mango, apple custard apple and guavas etc. Gardening is a very creative hobby and I can enjoy it.
Secondly, I love to have complete freedom, independence and privacy that I can get in a traditional house because either it is fenced or it is encompassed with compound wall all around. Over and above there is no disturbance from the other people as there is no common wall that I got to share with someone else. The biggest advantage of having a traditional house is that I am the owner of that entire property including land. I have full liberty to rent it out, lease it or sell it in part or in full, for that matter. In apartment, how modern it may be, there what I posses are only the four walls and I have to bother about the likes and dislikes of other occupants.
In nutshell, I would prefer to live or have a traditional house to an apartment because of its aforesaid tangible and intangible advantages to an apartment.

“The 21st Century and Changes”
The 21st century has begun. What changes do you think this new century will bring? Use examples and details in your answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Man, through the ages, has undergone innumerable magical changes from time to time. In the ancient times man lived in the jungles in caves and hutments made by wild grass and vegetation. Now men live in beautiful houses with all facilities and amenities of the life. The 20th century made giant leaps towards progress and development on all dimensions. For example computer application and technology is used in our all day to day activities including business. Computers have been applied in Education, Information, Media, Entertainment, Transport, Health monitoring and treatment, Banking, Buying, Selling, Trading, Communicating with near and dear by electronic mail or chatting; including outer space travel.
In 21st century I think there will be great acceleration in all human activities. This shall make the man more and more productive and wealthy. We will move still faster from one place to another, from one continent to another using high speed jet airplanes. Like today everyone has a computer and cell phone, in 21st Century every one shall have palmtop PCs.
Most amazing thing in the 21st century may be that the flights to the outer space Moon, Mars and other planets may be available to all including common men. Scientists say that Mars has many things similar to the Earth's. Moreover, they say that with the help of modern technology people may artificially create conditions that will be conducive for human living there as it is on Earth.
In nutshell, many amazing, exciting and flabbergasting changes may take place in the 21st century that is far beyond our imagination.
“Television & Newspapers to Celebrities”
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Television, Newspapers, Magazines, and other media pay too much of attention to the personal lives of famous people such as public figures and celebrities. Use specific reasons and details to explain your opinion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I agree that media highlights the personal lives of famous people and celebrities.
Newspapers, Magazines, Television and Internet are the most popular means of mass communication. If you look at any glossy news magazine, front glossy cover page has a photograph of one or the other celebrity. Look at any newspaper, the first page talks of politically prominent person with their photographs. On news channels on a television there are repeated news of celebrity’s personal lives like a particular person’s gorgeous house, the latter’s past and present love affairs, his married life, latter’s family members, and their weddings even their pets. This sounds really very funny and boring.
Some time back, there was wedding of an Indian film star’s son with a film actress. Although date of marriage was somewhere in March, all TV channels, magazines and news papers were busy from February till almost May giving news right from pre-preparation of a wedding till the honeymoon of the newlyweds. Four big months spent just for wedding news.
The said news included what all religious temples they visited, which all Astrologers they met, what all rituals they performed before the wedding, during the wedding and after the wedding. Because some prominent politicians and Industrialists happen to be their friends, those were also excessively highlighted by the entire media. This wedding has hardly any significance for a commoner.
In conclusion, media must emphasize on national economy, business, current affairs, and education and alike that affects the common men. News of celebrity’s personal life etc can be given second priority and not the first priority.

“Teenager Students Engaged In Jobs”
In some countries, teenagers have jobs while they are still students. Do you think this is a good idea? Support your opinion by using specific reasons and details.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In my opinion it is absolutely wrong to engage teenagers for paid work. This is nothing but engaging “child labor” which is not only wrong it is illegal rather. In this essay I will elaborate my viewpoint.
Teenagers have every privilege to study, play and enjoy. Further they go to universities for further studies and make their careers bright into the field of their choice. At such a tender age of the teenagers if they are made to work for money as Child Labors it not only inhuman but that is the gross deterioration of morality and human values.
Legal working age for any one is 18 years and above. At this age one is fully mature and understands his own good and bad. Also one knows difference between risky and safe and can take care of him or herself and protect from dangers. While teenagers are immature to know this and may endanger themselves in the process of working thereby may be victimized in some or the other accident and injure themselves. Thus causing temporary partial or permanent partial or total disablement that ruins the life of the teenager and the victim has to creep all though his or her life span. This is most pathetic. No compensation in form of money to any high value can get back what the teenager loses by way of disablement.
In nut shell, employing teenager as “Child Labor” is absolutely wrong, illegal and inhuman. One must not forget that teenagers are the future of our nation and we must protect them, educate them, and develop them to their optimum capacity and build a powerful nation.
In my opinion it is absolutely wrong to engage teenagers for paid work. This is nothing but engaging “child labor” which is not only wrong it is illegal rather. In this essay I will elaborate my viewpoint.
“Technology Makes World Better”
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Technology has made the world a better place to live. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Technology indeed has made our lives easier and convenient. In this essay we will look at some of the technological breakthroughs made today while simultaneously exploring how these advancements are impacting our culture, our relationships and our individual lives.
Most people welcome computers that have improved the ways we work and we play. Technology is advancing at a speed that is far beyond our imagination. Now computers are most important in our lives. Students come across computers both at home and at school. Governments worldwide have introduced computers and internet connections in classrooms. All businesses are fully taken over and performed by our computers only. Say banking, education, air booking, rail booking, road booking, buying selling, renting, trading in equity market, tender inquiries and what not. Even marriages are also fixed on internet. I am reminded of an old saying is that has rotated by 180 degrees now, that is------
“Marriages Are Made In Heaven” now modified as “Marriages Are Made On Internet”.
However there may be some side effects of working on computers, like we may miss the personal human touch. We tend to remain sedentary for long that may give some muscular pain etc. But over and above there is a general rule that “Every occupation has its aches and pains but it the adventure what makes life worth living.” So we welcome technology and computerization.
In nutshell now we have an access to entire world in our fist on our palmtop and technology has made the world a better place to live.

“Technology Helps Students Learn Faster”
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? With the help of technology, students nowadays can learn more information and learn it more quickly. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Students come across computers both at home and at school. Governments worldwide have introduced computers in classrooms. Computers and the Internet have brought dramatic changes to work processes, shopping and recreation.
Computers support vast variety of ways learners construct their own understanding. Students gather information from the Internet. They choose what sources to examine and what to pursue. Based on the parameters set by teachers, students may be in complete control of topics and their explorations and work at their pace.
Computer software can mix text, pictures, sound, and motion to provide a variety of options for learners. Multimedia software will not be the only classroom resource, but it can contribute richness and variety to student work.
Students can build on their understanding by using computers as resource tools, work stations, or as communication channels to share ideas with other learners. Individual understanding and experiences must be shared and compared to curriculum content. By uncovering students' individual understandings, teachers can determine the influence of students' prior knowledge and further their education through new experience.
Computers are used to assist active experiences, gathering data and resources, conversing with colleagues, struggling through a challenging puzzle or application or they can assist in reflection. For example, while an on-line conversation through e-mail is an active event. They help us think about ideas and check our understanding. In another reflective application, teachers can enlist computers as authoring tools for students' journals which are excellent vehicles for thoughtful examination of experience.
In conclusion, with the help of technology, students learn more information quickly.
“Teachers Payment Proportionate To Students Learning”
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers should be paid according to how much their students learn. Give specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don’t agree to the logic of paying teachers in proportion to their students learning. It would be unfair to do so. I shall elaborate on my view point in this essay.
First of all, a student’s or learners self confidence and access to information is very necessary. Self-confidence is important to the students in order for them to move forward in work or further study. Many face major barriers such as may be cultural issues, poverty, racism, and poor English skills. This would mostly lead to an internalization of low self-esteem. In addition, learning disabilities and social and emotional problems at home are often not recognized in school. This cause many individuals to lose interest in learning, lower self esteem, turn their feelings inward and not participate or to leave school and give up on learning. For these matters it is unfair to penalize teachers and cut their remuneration.
For example Lawyers are never paid on the basis of winning the case or in proportion to the compensation amount granted by judiciary in judicial cases. Similarly doctors are not paid according to extent of wellbeing of a patient. Similarly in the cases of heart and brain surgeries, doctors are not paid based on survival of the patient. Identically paying in proportion to the students learning cannot be enforced upon teachers. Enforcement of this kind of policy may do more harm than good because the teacher community may be agonized and antagonized thereby spoiling the interest of students and parents.
In nutshell, if some shortcomings on part of teachers are noticed, those can be well taken care by giving them exposures to training programs of “Faculty Development”. Nevertheless payment in proportion to students learning shall not be fair and right.

“Take Many Subjects or Specialize In One”
Some universities require students to take classes in many subjects. Other universities require students to specialize in one subject. Which is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Universities have their pre decided curriculum. This is framed after a tremendous amount of study and research work. Many subjects are interwoven e.g. for an aspirant Engineer Mathematics, Drawing, Physics and Chemistry are essential to be studied thoroughly. Similarly for a student wanting to become a Doctor, Zoology with Physics, Chemistry and Botany are needed. It is only after the graduation in academic and professional field, on the level of post graduation and research that the person has a choice to specialize in one particular subject or the field.
Secondly it is pointless to study many subjects. Studying many subject calls for a lot of efforts and huge amount of time money and energy. It is always better to have pointed specialization instead of going breadth wise and ruin enormous energy and available resources.
Best example is that of doctors. Gynecologists never undertake surgery of ear, nose or throat. Similarly Orthopedics would not undertake cardiac surgery. Dentists would never undertake cancer treatment or knee replacement surgery for that matter.
No doubt a Mechanical Engineer specializes in Electrical or Electronics Engineering shall have an option and choice to either change over the discipline or diversify his business. In addition one can choose to teach those subjects in universities that fetch him or her additional income. Also one can write and papers for seminars, articles for news papers, magazines, technical journals etc. One can and even author and publish some books in the subjects that can fetch him or her handsome royalty amount.
To sup up, depending upon the conditions and need, one can choose either to master one subject or more.
“Support Art or Environment”
A company is going to give some money either to support the arts or to protect the environment. Which do you think the company should choose? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I feel company should choose to protect the environment that is a burning problem of the world these days. In essay I shall elaborate the need to protect the environment.
Immense increase in world population has given rise to many grave problems. The basic human needs for fresh water, food, housing and fuel have sky rocketed and those are making unprecedented demands on our global and local ecosystems. Further than the necessities of survival, there is increasing demand throughout the globe for more material goods and services. As the nations strive to increase material wealth and the comforts and conveniences, the pressure on biodiversity and natural resources has tremendously increased. Enormous housing constructions causes trees felling and jungle cutting thereby causing imbalance of ecology. Furthermore, numerous vehicles cause environment pollution by emission of carbon mono oxide and carbon-dioxide and heat generation.
Heat generation adds to global warming. Global warming represents a profound and emerging threat to biodiversity around the world. As temperatures rise, many habitats for plants and animals will change sometimes depriving them of the homes and niches. For example, monarch butterflies could lose their wintering habitats in the mountains of Mexico, and polar bears could be affected by the loss of marine life. As a result, many species will become extinct, and ecosystems around the world will become even more fragile.
Massive industrialization has caused tremendous amount of gases in the atmosphere that has in turn caused depletion in ozone layer resulting into shortage of Oxygen. Many other liquids discharged in form of effluents contaminate the earth thereby most fertile land turns into barren.
In nutshell, most important need of the hour is to protect the environment from further damages.

“Success Comes With Hard Work or Luck”
“When people succeed, it is because of hard work. Luck has nothing to do with success.” Do you agree or disagree with the quotation above? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your position.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I fully agree that “Success Is Because Of Hard Work and Not Because Of Luck”
To support, I would like to mention a notable quotations that says
*Work is Worship* ~~~“Gita” is a religious book of Hindus. Said book has been worldwide accepted as the “Bible of the Management” the gist of this book is that everyone must persistently work without being bothered about the final reward. The rewards of the hard work are bound to be excellent.
For example a great entrepreneur and creator of an empire is Late Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani of India. He was born in a country side village and his father was a School Teacher with a meager income. Mr. Dhirubhai after having passed his tenth grade went to Aden where he was hired as a petrol pump attendant. One fine day he got an idea of building up his own Oil Refinery. Although it sounds like a crazy idea for a petrol pump attendant to want to build a refinery of his own however he could build the biggest grass root Oil Refinery of the world in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India. This is well known worldwide as Reliance's 25-Million Metric Ton Oil Refinery that went on stream in 1999. This achievement is due to the persistent hard work of Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani.
Another example of hard work is that of Mr. Warren Buffet, one of the wealthiest men in the world. Mr. Warren Buffet was not a born CEO or investor or chess grandmaster. He achieved the greatness only through an enormous amount of hard work.
In conclusion nobody is great without work. It may be nice to be lucky but it doesn't happen. There's no evidence of high achievement without hard work.
“Success Comes From Taking Risks”
Some people believe that success in life comes from taking risks or chances. Others believe that success results from careful planning. In your opinion, what does success come from? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometimes, you hear people debate whether business success is attributable more to business techniques or chance taking and risk taking. The answer, of course, is both, but the point where the two intersect is risk management. A huge percentage of business success or failure can be laid at the doorstep of risk management.
Simply chance taking is a fluke and success can’t be achieved by fluke. Secondly word that comes is “RISK”. I do agree “No Risk No Gain” but the risk has to be a calculated risk and not at random. Randomization in risk taking may lead the businessman to bankruptcy and one may turn out to be popper. This is one reason business is not so easy. It is the unusual blending of traits that allows someone to be prudent with risk.
The same is often true with respect to career and company success. A successful individual may take-up 10 tasks over the period of a year but focuses efforts on a single initiative when it promises high yields. A company may launch 10 products and quickly pull back 9, making significant money on the one that finds ready acceptance in the marketplace.
Even successful artists and inventors, researchers as Dean Keith Simonton found, tend to churn out creative efforts, deriving their fame from the small minority of works that attract the attention of an appreciative world is an example of an excellent planning.
In conclusion success is the end result or the yield of careful planning, time and risk management, and powerful execution. I may mention a notable quote that says “If You Fail To Plan You Are Planning To Fail”. Simply chance taking may result into failures and may be extremely injurious to your wealth.

“Studying At Home with Computers or Television”
In the future, students may have the choice of studying at home by using technology such as computers or television or of studying at traditional schools. Which would you prefer? Use reasons and specific details to explain your choice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would prefer traditional school method of studying to computer and television mode. In this essay I shall elaborate on my viewpoint.
I am strongly of the view that students must attend school regularly without fail. The reason being, classes are conducted on a fixed schedule on a regular basis. This induces the traits of regularity and punctuality in the students and that is very important for good personality building.
Furthermore lectures for instruction in the classes on a particular subject matter and related topics are given by the most qualified and highly experienced professors who are specialized in that particular subject and the area. This gives most valid information and teachings on the subject matter that is very precious. Thus the education imparted is fundamentally strong and that of an excellent quality. To get this high quality of education is impossible for a student staying in isolation with computer and television without attending the classes at school.
On the other hand during the student life, boys and girls have an extremely dominating tendency to play, enjoy and be merry even at the cost of studies. The situation when students are allowed not to attend school would obviously result into basically unsound and poor quality of education. Students are the nation builders and lives of numerous people depend upon them as many may be turn out to be Physicians, Surgeons, Pilots etc. These professions call for fundamentally sound education and that of a very superior quality.
In conclusion, for an individual’s own self development, a disciplined life is most important. And attending schools and classes punctually shall induce said discipline in the university students that is a paramount importance for a powerful personality hence attending school is vitally important for the sound education.
“Study Choice Courses”
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? High schools should allow students to study the courses that students want to study. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A decision of choosing courses and subjects is choosing a career. Said decision is very crucial and vitally important. It is always recommended that such crucial decisions be taken by the mature people like parents, guardians or teachers for that matter and not the students,
A recurring problem in most societies is that students in general do not opt for little harder subjects like mathematics and science. Although there is high availability of lucrative and well-paid jobs in fields that demand mathematics and science. Such jobs are engineering, statistics, teaching and technology. Students see science and mathematics as hard subjects and do not respond to motivational factors such as easier admission to higher education or interesting and important work. I feel we need to be much more direct in our attempts to get students to learn hard sciences in general and mathematics in particular in high school for a brighter career.
In general subjects of science and mathematics make the learner smarter; he or she can make more money. One gets easy admission to college for higher studies. Because we live in a global world that is subjected to constant changes, those subjects are paramount importance. Students with science and mathematics find no doors closed wherever they go. Also science and mathematics are interesting subjects. With those creative subjects one does not only get through into college but in all walks of life.
In nutshell, I feel choosing the subjects at the school level must be properly guided and intervened by the parents, guardians and teachers in the larger interest of the students career and must not be left at the sweet will of the high school students.

“Study Alone or In Groups”
Some students prefer to study alone. Others prefer to study with a group of students. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
--------------------
I prefer to study with the group. Group study enhances students’ performances, both in class discussions, as well as on tests.
Group study pays off because it brings about changes in two ways: it forces students to alter their old ways of thinking and it changes their less effective patterns of behavior. In a group environment, students are less likely to procrastinate. After all, it’s easy to put off an assignment when one is alone and not answerable to anyone. But when a student is in a group of people counting on him or her, one would mostly complete the job.
Group study encourages students to explain things aloud. By speaking to and listening to others, students improve on recall ability, or ability to remember information on test day. Students who study with others are forced to become more organized. Once students learn to date and label their notes, they will see that organized notes make much more sense while preparing for final examination.
One more great benefit of group discussion is that the many perspectives improve student’s chances of anticipating test questions. Group members will always bring up ideas and thoughts one never considered. The various views are sure to pay off on test day! Students shall find that the benefit of group study reaches far beyond the good results on test day. It will build self-confidence that one can use for the rest of his or her life. Speaking to small groups will prepare students for speaking to larger groups in the future.
Summarizing, it is generally recognized that people can accomplish more by sharing their skills and resources than by working alone. The power of groups is widely accepted in the business world and can easily be used by students too.

“Students Evaluate Teachers”
Schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I agree to students evaluating teachers. Students may evaluate teachers on the basis of yearly academic growth of their students. This is known as a “value-added,” evaluation.
The purpose of student evaluation of teaching is to provide staff with valid and reliable information with the help of which right and well informed decisions can be made about improving student learning processes and outcomes. Evaluation is a positive process and should be used for the enhancement of staff development and student learning.
Students are the main source of information about the learning environment, including teachers' ability to motivate students for continued learning, rapport or degree of communication between instructors and students. Secondly Students are the most logical evaluators of the quality, the effectiveness of, and satisfaction with course content, method of instruction, textbooks, homework, and student interest. Besides student ratings encourage communication between students and their instructor. Said communication may lead to the kind of student and instructor involvement in the teaching-learning process that can raise the level of instruction. Furthermore student ratings of particular instructors and courses can be used by other students to select courses and instructors, and may increase the chances that excellence in instruction will be recognized and rewarded.
In summary we must accept that good teaching really matters the most. Hence build¬ing a credible basis for teacher evalua¬tion would be an important advance that could contribute, to improved teaching and learning in the long run. But the evaluation process should be absolutely fair and free from any personal prejudice, bias or partiality. Evaluation process must be sufficiently rich to do justice to the complex and multidimensional activity that constitutes teaching.
“Statue to Honor Famous Person”
Your city has decided to build a statue or monument to honor a famous person in your country. Who would you choose? Use reasons and specific examples to support your choice.
------------------------------------
I am an Indian residing in India. I hail from Baroda in the state of Gujarat. I am follower of the philosophy “Work is Worship”. If I am given the opportunity to suggest as to whose statue must be built in Baroda, I would say Late Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani; founder of Reliance group of industries the most renowned entrepreneur world over.
As a great entrepreneur, he created an empire. He was born in a country side village and his father was a School Teacher with a meager income. Mr. Dhirubhai after having passed his tenth grade went to Aden where he was hired as a petrol pump attendant. One fine day he got an idea of building up his own Oil Refinery. Although it sounds quixotic and a crazy idea for a petrol pump attendant to want to build a refinery of his own; nevertheless he could build the biggest single grass root Oil Refinery of the world in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India. This is well known worldwide as Reliance's 25-Million Metric Ton Oil Refinery that went on stream in 1999. This achievement is purely due to the persistent hard work of Late Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani. Reliance is the first Indian company to feature in Forbes 500 list
Dhirubhai Ambani was a great visionary and the most enterprising Indian entrepreneur. His life journey is reminiscent of the rags to riches story. He is remembered as the one who rewrote the Indian corporate history and built a truly global corporate group. Dhirubhai Ambani died on July 6, 2002, at Mumbai.
In conclusion, his statue shall be a great source of motivation to population by large and especially younger generation in their journey to success and building a powerful nation.
“Spend Time with Few Or Larger Group”
Some people prefer to spend time with one or two close friends. Others choose to spend time with a large number of friends. Compare the advantages of each choice. Which of these two ways of spending time do you prefer? Use specific reasons to support your answer.
-----------------------------------------
I prefer to have one or two close friends instead of many. In contrast I believe that more number of friends means contacts. To have more contacts is beneficial on the business front. People with more contacts are more successful compared to those who have less number of contacts. Nevertheless to have close friends one must have limit to one or two. Because close friends sometimes know many things about us which many others are not supposed to know, also we can’t rely on too many to share personal information with. We must be highly disciplined in this matter.
Friends occupy positions of extreme importance in our lives. Often it can seem as if they are more important than parents! Friends can have great influence over many areas of a peer’s emerging identity. Their choice of music, movies, clothes, boyfriends or girlfriends, classes, jobs, and so on. In some cases, it doesn’t stop here; it also covers the personal standards of behavior, school / university performance, morals and values. This makes it especially important for the one to make good friendship choices.
Friends influence peer’s life, even if they don't realize it, just by spending time with them. We often learn from them, and vice versa. It's only human nature to listen to and learn from other people. Friends can have a positive influence each other. Friends build a sense of trust, respect, and mutual support.
In the nutshell, sometimes one may become more susceptible to negative influences like getting addicted to smoking, drinking, drug-abuse and premature sex and many more. Hence it is very important to choose close friends extremely carefully and selectively with whom we can spend quite some time.
“Spend Time Alone or With Friends”
Some people prefer to spend most of their time alone. Others like to be with friends most of the time. Do you prefer to spend your time alone or with friends? Use specific reasons to support your answer.
------------------------------
I would prefer to spend time with friends as far as possible. In this essay I will elaborate on my viewpoint.
Mankind is social creature and one must learn to live among society and not aloof. By staying alone one becomes introvert and none seems to care for him or her. When one is with friends, he or she can interact with them and vice versa. We learn many things by interacting with friends. Friends occupy positions of extreme importance in our lives. Often it can seem as if they are more important than our parents even! Friends can have great influence over many of us. Our choice of music, movies, clothes, boyfriends or girlfriends, classes, jobs, and so on. In some cases, it doesn’t stop here; it also covers the personal standards of behavior, school or university performance or business performances, morals and values. This makes it especially important for us to make good friendship choices.
Introversion is "the state of or tendency toward being wholly or predominantly concerned with and interested in one's own mental life". Introverts tend to be quiet, low-key, deliberate, and relatively non-engaged in social situations. They take pleasure in solitary activities such as reading, writing, and drawing, watching movies, listening to music, inventing, and designing. An introverted person is likely to enjoy time spent alone and find less reward in time spent with large groups of people. They prefer to concentrate on a single activity at a time and like to observe situations before they participate.
In conclusion there are no rights or wrong for being introvert or extrovert, it is solely a matter of choice of an individual. However I enjoy being in company of my friends most of the time.
“Spend On Technology or Basic Needs”
Some people think that governments should spend as much money as possible on developing or buying computer technology. Other people disagree and think that this money should be spent on more basic needs. Which one of these opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
-----------------------------
I feel government must spend more money on basic human needs rather than computer technology.
Immense increase in world population has given rise to many grave problems. The basic human needs for fresh water, food, housing and fuel have sky rocketed and those are making unprecedented demands on our global and local ecosystems. Further than the necessities of survival, there is increasing demand throughout the globe for more material goods and services. As the nations strive to increase material wealth and the comforts and conveniences, the pressure on biodiversity and natural resources has tremendously increased. Enormous housing constructions causes trees falling and jungle cutting thereby causing imbalance of ecology. Furthermore, numerous vehicles cause environment pollution by emission of carbon mono oxide and carbon-dioxide and heat generation.
Heat generation thus adds to global warming. Global warming represents a profound and emerging threat to biodiversity around the world. As temperatures rise, many habitats for plants and animals will change sometimes depriving them of the homes and niches. As a result, many species will become extinct, and ecosystems around the world will become even more fragile.
Massive industrialization has caused tremendous amount of gases in the atmosphere that has in turn caused depletion in ozone layer resulting into shortage of Oxygen. Many other liquids discharged in form of effluents contaminate the earth thereby most fertile land turns into barren.
Summarizing, a large population strata consists of commoners that has no direct or indirect impact of advancement of computer technology. However computer technology is important for overall progress and development. But the basic human needs are a paramount importance for survival and must not be neglected.
“Spend More on Improving Roads or Transport”
Should governments spend more money on improving roads and highways, or should governments spend more money on improving public transportation (buses, trains, subways)? Why? Use specific reasons and details to develop your essay.
------------------------
Many believe that governments should spend more money on improving roads and highways. Some feel that more money should be spent on improving public transport. I personally, opine that both of the jobs are equally important.
The first reason for proliferation of automobiles is the overpopulation. The numbers of various automobiles have risen dramatically. Aftermath of this drastic rise in automobiles is the wear and tear to the roads those depreciate and deteriorate day and on. Said phenomenon calls for and necessitates frequent upkeep of roads and highways. In the interest of safe and comfortable transport, governments must spend money on regular condition monitoring and up-keep of the roads and highways from time to time. At the same time availability of a good public transport shall considerably reduce the movement of private owned vehicles this would greatly help minimizing wear and tear of roads and highways. An added advantage shall be reduction in pollution of environment that would be a boon to the population by large.
Secondly improvement in public transport shall help reducing traffic jams in the peak hours and shall greatly help business class, office goers, and student community. This shall greatly help in the Energy and Oil Conservation missions of the respective Governments. Besides that, public transport is very much affordable to middle income group and lower income groups of people. Nonetheless everyone can’t afford a car. Furthermore public transport saves time and money. Moreover reduction in vehicle movement shall greatly reduce road accidents. Sometimes road mishaps are disastrous and fatal even.
In the nutshell Governments must pay attention towards condition monitoring and upkeep of roads and highways. It must spend money on improving public transportation and roads and highways depending upon the need.
Some people think that governments should spend as much money as possible on developing or buying computer technology. Other people disagree and think that this money should be spent on more basic needs. Which one of these opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
----------------------------------
I think, government must spend maximum towards human needs than computer technology as India is extremely overpopulated. I will discuss human needs as per Maslow’s theory.
Basic needs are Food, Water, Sleep, Shelter and Warmth. If those needs are not fulfilled, a human's physiological needs take the highest priority. Physiological needs can control thoughts and behaviors, and can cause people to feel sickness, pain, and discomfort. Furthermore are the Safety needs, when physiological needs are met, the need for safety will emerge. When one stage is fulfilled, a person naturally moves to the next. These include: Personal security from lay-offs, personal health, and recovery after accidents, illnesses and any adverse impacts. Maslow believed that humans have the need to increase their intelligence and thereby chase knowledge. Cognitive needs is the expression of the natural human need to learn, for education, explore, discover and create to get a better understanding of the world around them.
Last but not least; Needs of Love, Belonging, and Social needs. After physiological and safety needs are fulfilled, the third layer of human needs is social. This psychological aspect of Maslow's hierarchy involves emotionally-based relationships in general, such as: friendship and sexual intimacy having a supportive and communicative family
In conclusion, overpopulation has resulted into a grave problem of unemployment causing acute poverty. People have no jobs, no shelters to live and no food to eat. Medical and Educational facilities have turned insufficient thus people die of sicknesses and ailments. The victims of unemployment and poverty resort to unfair ways of earning. Those can be loot, vandalism, sex business, drug paddling and alike. Such unfair ways give rise to crimes thus crime rate shoots-up to alarming levels. Under the circumstances I feel government must spend more toward basic human needs than computerization.
“Spend Free Time Outdoors or Indoors”
Some people prefer to spend their free time outdoors. Other people prefer to spend their leisure time indoors. Would you prefer to be outside or would you prefer to be inside for your leisure activities? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your choice.
-------------------------------
I am a retired officer from oil sector, from a Government of India Undertaking. A public sector Oil Refining and Marketing Company. I prefer to spend my leisure time indoors. In this essay I will elaborate my leisure activities.
By definition leisure or free time, is a period of time spent out of work and essential domestic activity. It is also the period of discretionary time before and after compulsory activities such as eating and sleeping, going to work or running a business, attending school and doing homework, household chores, and day-to-day stress.
I wake up every morning at five and take a long morning walk. Evening I go for walk up to one park. During my leisure time I practice Harmonica playing and writing. I like to watch television programs especially musical. Besides I practice Yoga also these activities relax me considerably. I do net surfing that gives me a lot of information and knowledge that proves very useful in my writing activity. However I don’t mean to say that I don’t like going outdoors. I do go outdoors for participating in several musical programs at various places in my town and I do enjoy that. My wife is an Arts and Cookery teacher; I like to learn Indian cuisine from her.
In nutshell my leisure activities are low-impact physical activities that include walking and yoga, music, writing, net surfing, television watching. I very much enjoy these activities.
“Spend Entire Life in One Place or Move To Many”
Some people spend their entire lives in one place. Others move a number of times throughout their lives, looking for a better job, house, community, or even climate. Which do you prefer: staying in one place or moving in search of another place? Use reasons and specific examples to support your opinion.
-------------------------
I prefer to keep on moving instead of confining myself to one place. The reasons are that when a person keeps on moving he or she learns about the new places, people and things. By knowing more one acquires a bulk of information and broadens his outlook. Not out of place to mention here that “Information is Power”. It is all attributable to the extensive movement of a person that he or she becomes a dynamic personality.
Confinement at one place makes the life of an individual very monotonous and boring. One cannot learn anything more than what one knows. The knowledge remains limited and so is experience too. He or she has no exposure to the outer world and that is bad. Also one cannot learn or acquire multifarious knowledge and experience.
Alexis Carrel in his notable quote says “Life Leaps like a Geyser for Those Who Drill through the Rock of Inertia.”
However some may have limitation to keep moving. Firstly these are the people who have some or the other physical handicap. For such people sedentary jobs at one location would be ideal. Secondly this limitation is faced when people become old and retired. In this phase one may or may not keep very healthy to move around. This is the time when they need rest and it is better for those people to stay at one place.
In nut shell I feel it is better for younger generation to keep on move instead of confining at one place. By this they acquire a lot of information and knowledge and experience that is not only precious and important for individuals but for the nation too.
“Some Prefer To Live Where Climate Don’t Change”
Some people prefer to live in places that have the same weather or climate all year long. Others like to live in areas where the weather changes several times a year. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.
---------------------------------
I prefer to live in places that have steady climatic conditions. However the selection making by the people, largely depends upon an individual’s circumstances and health conditions. For the persons above 60 or 65, any brisk changes in climates may cause discomfort and health problem. In this essay I will elaborate impact of varying climates on human health.
Weather has a profound effect on human health and well-being regardless of age. However older people are more prone to health problems on account of climatic variations. Weather is associated with changes in birth rates, with outbreaks of pneumonia, influenza and bronchitis, and is related to other morbidity effects linked to pollen concentrations and high pollution levels. Furthermore, hot weather extremes have greater substantial impact on mortality than cold waves. Normal health can be maintained by frequent exercises, consumption of fluids, and living in shaded residences. Acclimatization may moderate the impact of successive heat waves over the short term. Similarly, humidity has an important impact on mortality since it contributes to the body's ability to cool itself by evaporation of perspiration. It also has an important influence on morbidity in the winter because cold, dry air leads to excessive dehydration of nasal passages and the upper respiratory tract and increased chance of microbial and viral infection.
In conclusion, with the time, a person get use to climates and the system become immune. However frequent exposures to extremely varying climates pose health problems especially to elderly people. In order to stay healthy one must opt to stay in a relatively steady type of climatic conditions. Staying healthy improves efficiency and effectiveness and in turn, the productivity and profitability.
“Some People Hurry While Others Go Slow”
Some people are always in a hurry to go places and get things done. Other people prefer to take their time and live life at a slower pace. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
-------------------------------------
I certainly prefer to do things quickly but not hurriedly. In this essay in order to elaborate my view point, I shall elaborate on hurry or haste and quick or prompt. Indeed, I may prefer to be at comparative slower pace to a desperately hurried person who is prone to commit blunders and hazards. Nevertheless by “comparative slower pace” I don’t mean to creep.
Hurry means undue haste for doing the things or going to places or to impel and precipitate a thoughtless action and to urge to confused or irregular activity. Hurry is not an appropriate or right behavior. There are popular old sayings that “Hurry Spoils Curry” and also that “Haste Makes Waste”. Anything done in hurry may miserably go wrong and against the interests of the doer.
However in this fast age everyone has to be prompt or quick and keep pace with the time. Survival is for the fittest and one who cannot manage and maintain speed is simply thrown out. The recent great strides in technology present tremendous opportunities for human development, but achieving that potential depends upon how technology is being harnessed and leveraged. The fusion of computing and communications, especially through Internet, has broken the bounds of cost, time and distances, launching an era of global information networking that has led to exponential growth of all businesses and industries, including education, health monitoring and treatment, banking etc. Worth mentioning here that mankind has even started to travel to moon and outer space and landing back to earth safely.
In conclusion a person has to be quick and prompt in all his or her actions but in no way he or she makes hurry or haste in doing the things that could be disastrous.
“Smoking Ban”
In some countries, people are no longer allowed to smoke in many public places and office buildings. Do you think it is a good rule or a bad rule? Use specific reasons and details to support your position.
--------------------------------
I strongly opine that ban on Smoking at public places is a good rule.
Smoking is Cancerous is a proven fact. Cancer is an extremely dreadful and life taking disease. Thanks to the health researchers who have found that passive smoking is much more harmful. Active smoking is done by the smoker himself and Passive Smoking is done by the people near him by way of inhaling the smoke exhaled by the active smoker. Passive smoke causes allergies to many, particularly asthmatic patients may get severe asthmatic attack and may need immediate hospitalization and may be required to be put on clinical oxygen. Animals are highly allergic to smoke. Particularly tiny and tender pets like cat, dog and birds are over sensitive and feel hard to breathe and start coughing badly. Hence persons having pets must never smoke.
Smoking causes diseases like: -
Cancer, Bronchitis, Asthmas, Impotency in men,
Still-birth in case of women. Heart Attack, Loss of teeth
Those who smoke in air-conditioned offices and houses, cause many times more harm to themselves and be others too who visit and sit in their room for business or social visits.
Smokers exhale many injurious gases with smoke those are inhaled by passive smokers. Smoking pollutes the environment and that is unhealthy. In order to maintain healthy environment smoking must be banned at public places and offices.
“Should Businesses Do Anything For Profits?”
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Businesses should do anything they can to make a profit. Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.
----------------------------------
I do not agree with the statement that businesses should do anything they can to make a profit. No doubt a company or business may expand its scope by way of expansion, diversification, newer project, augmentation, mergers etc; in order to increase its turnover and thereby enhance proceeds, but a company or business can in no way do anything at the cost of quality of their products and service to customers.
Primarily every company or business must have its “Quality Policy” well defined and documented. Said policy must be made known to the customers by displaying the same at a location of rich visibility in company’s premises. Every business or company must strictly adhere to said quality policy.
Now a day there is tremendous competition in business. At the same time equal amount of advancement is seen in technology too. Companies come out with various attractions to get more and more clients. The brightest example is that of cell phone manufactures and communication service providers. A cell phone has variety of changeable musical ring tones and hello tunes. A cell phone can be used as a camera, sound recorder, calculator, stop watch, message sender and receiver, email sender and receiver and it can also be used as a personal computer with gigantic storing capacity and memory. Likewise all other businesses e.g. hospitality, airlines, medical care etc now provide variety of very attractive product and service. In a way world over now, sellers monopoly has ended. Now it is buyers market and not sellers market.
In conclusion to be in business, now the companies cannot do whatever they like to increase the profit. Now for the companies, only customer satisfaction is not enough, they have to strive for the customer delight.
“School Uniforms”
Some high schools require all students to wear school uniforms. Other high schools permit students to decide what to wear to school. Which of these two school policies do you think is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
--------------------------------------
School uniforms are most common in primary and secondary schools in many nations. They are the most widely and popularly known as student uniform. Some other types of these include uniforms worn by students participating in higher vocational training, such as in health care occupations.
Traditionally, school uniforms have been subdued and professional. Boys' uniforms often consist of dark colored trousers and light colored shirt and a tie. Girls' uniforms vary greatly from country to country and schooling systems there, but typically girl’s uniforms consist of a dress or a blouse worn either with a skirt, culottes or under a pinafore. Gender-specific uniforms have been a point of contention, with some schools permitting female students to choose either skirts or trousers while still requiring male students to wear trousers. The use of a blazer or suit-like jacket for either gender is also fairly common, especially in cold weather.
School dress codes dictate what cannot be worn by any student, such as sheer or midriff-baring tops, clothing that advertises tobacco or alcohol or the T-shirts having arousing captions like sexy, slippery while wet, kiss me twice, hot stuff and many alike. Such type of dresses diverts attention of fellow students and cause disturbances in studies.
In conclusion, uniforms are the sign of discipline that is most important in education field. Uniforms are used in army, police, navy, air force, and many more. Uniforms create a feeling of unity, oneness and fellowship. Uniforms elevate and boost up the spirits hence uniforms are used in forces and sport events too. Hence uniforms in schools, colleges and universities must be welcome.
