“Spend More on Outer Space or Basic Needs”

Some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think governments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
-----------------------------------

I feel government must spend more money on human needs than outer space research. In this essay we shall look at the reasons justifying this.

Immense increase in world population has given rise to many grave problems. The basic human needs for fresh water, food, housing and fuel have sky rocketed and those are making unprecedented demands on our global and local ecosystems. Further than the necessities of survival, there is increasing demand throughout the globe for more material goods and services. As the nations strive to increase material wealth and the comforts and conveniences, the pressure on biodiversity and natural resources has tremendously increased. Enormous housing constructions causes trees falling and jungle cutting thereby causing imbalance of ecology. Furthermore, numerous vehicles cause environment pollution by emission of carbon mono oxide and carbon-dioxide and heat generation.

Heat generation thus adds to global warming. Global warming represents a profound and emerging threat to biodiversity around the world. As temperatures rise, many habitats for plants and animals will change sometimes depriving them of the homes and niches. As a result, many species will become extinct, and ecosystems around the world will become even more fragile.

Massive industrialization has caused tremendous amount of gases in the atmosphere that has in turn caused depletion in ozone layer resulting into shortage of Oxygen. Many other liquids discharged in form of effluents contaminate the earth thereby most fertile land turns into barren.

In nutshell, government must remember that majority population consisting of commoners has no direct or even indirect impact of outer space research. The basic human needs are import. Hence government must spend more money on human needs than space.

“Spend More on Improving Roads or Transport”

Should governments spend more money on improving roads and highways, or should governments spend more money on improving public transportation (buses, trains, subways)? Why? Use specific reasons and details to develop your essay.
------------------------

Many believe that governments should spend more money on improving roads and highways. Some feel that more money should be spent on improving public transport. I personally, opine that both of the jobs are equally important.

The first reason for proliferation of automobiles is the overpopulation. The numbers of various automobiles have risen dramatically. Aftermath of this drastic rise in automobiles is the wear and tear to the roads those depreciate and deteriorate day and on. Said phenomenon calls for and necessitates frequent upkeep of roads and highways. In the interest of safe and comfortable transport, governments must spend money on regular condition monitoring and up-keep of the roads and highways from time to time. At the same time availability of a good public transport shall considerably reduce the movement of private owned vehicles this would greatly help minimizing wear and tear of roads and highways. An added advantage shall be reduction in pollution of environment that would be a boon to the population by large.

Secondly improvement in public transport shall help reducing traffic jams in the peak hours and shall greatly help business class, office goers, and student community. This shall greatly help in the Energy and Oil Conservation missions of the respective Governments. Besides that, public transport is very much affordable to middle income group and lower income groups of people. Nonetheless everyone can’t afford a car. Furthermore public transport saves time and money. Moreover reduction in vehicle movement shall greatly reduce road accidents. Sometimes road mishaps are disastrous and fatal even.

In the nutshell Governments must pay attention towards condition monitoring and upkeep of roads and highways. It must spend money on improving public transportation and roads and highways depending upon the need.
