“Make Important Change In School”

If you could make one important change in a school that you attended, what change would you make? Use reasons and specific examples to support your answer.
-------------------------------------------

Single most important change that I would like to make in my school is that teaching of English shall start from day one of the Grade—1. In this essay I shall elaborate on my viewpoint.

I studied in a school in Rajasthan—India. There teaching of English Language would start only from seventh grade. Similar is the case with other states in India like Gujarat, Bihar, UP and MP etc. Because of this students would study English for a short spell of time; pass out Matriculation and start college education where although English would not be a compulsory subject but medium of instruction would be English. As a result of this, students face tremendous amount of difficulties in grasping the subjects and they can’t perform well in their final examinations.

Schools in the new age are becoming a larger and larger driving force in popular culture. Schools perform large tasks for current world events. It is only the school education that opens many avenues for earning, a good employment and handsome salary thereby one does not only earn for livelihood but also creates wealth. Also one can make his or her dreams of becoming Doctor, Engineer, Businessman, Actor, Scientist, Pilot and Astronaut come true. In this extremely fast era of computerization and advance technology quite high level of education is the need of the hour.

In nutshell, as a change, I shall ensure that English as a language is taught right from day one a student is enrolled in Grade: 1. that make students thorough and fluent in Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing of English and students can successfully communicate in English and fare well in examinations with high score.

“Losing Important Natural Resources”

Many parts of the world are losing important natural resources, such as forests, animals, or clean water. Choose one resource that is disappearing and explain why it needs to be saved. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
--------------------------------------------

Population is dramatically rising day and on. This rise in population gives rise to higher demand of every thing; like food, water, housing, industries, and business avenues. As a result, world over, natural resources like land, water, forests and livestock etc are depleting very fast.

Higher demand of housing and industrialization is aggravating depletion of land and clean water. Power generation consumes gigantic volume of water. However power is the most essential for human progress and development. Secondly because of increased housing and industrialization we lose huge area of agricultural land thereby causing reduction in crop produce and food crises. Extensive housing, greater industrialization, construction of roads, bridges and massive airports etc do not only result into depletion of land and water resource but also give rise to high degree of pollution; heat generation and global warming that is most alarming. Furthermore increased extensive use of automobiles; in addition to pollution and global warming; give rise to environment pollution and depletion of oil and gas resource. Oil is one of the precious natural resource; well known as “Black Gold”.

The resource that is disappearing is the animal resource. Because of deforestation, species lose their habitat and may die. Those animals some times migrate toward towns and are killed by human beings. Sometimes very large vessels carrying crude oil via sea may leak thereby polluting sea water resulting into killing of fishes, crocodiles, turtles, dolphins, and other under water species. Improper waste disposal or effluent also can cause water pollution thereby harming under water creatures. Animals are used for cultivating, poultry, and milk production and material handling and transport.

Summarizing, animal resource is the one that is disappearing. This needs attention and human consideration.

“Live Performance & Concert versus Television”

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Attending a live performance (for example, a play, concert, or sporting event) is more enjoyable than watching the same event on television. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
------------------------------------------------

I prefer to attend live shows in cases of concerts. This is mainly because concerts are rare and shall not be so soon telecasted. However those may be telecasted only after a long interval of time. But many movies from film industry are repeatedly available on Television and those can be viewed sitting in our comfortable arm chair with push back type high back seat. The main advantage and pleasure of attending a live concert is that you see many celebrities in person giving their performances that is most exciting. Imagine some one watching pictures of his or her darling and on the other hand seeing them in person. The latter one is very much pleasurable obviously.

Secondly you come across very high class, sophisticated and aristocrat gentry. Also you can see the eager and the excitement of the audience that is highly exciting in itself which otherwise one can not enjoy sitting at home and watching TV. One can make and develop new contacts that are beneficial for social life as well as for business.

However a sports event like Wimbledon Tennis, World Cup Cricket or even one day international matches it is not possible for every one to get entry there and watch personally. However if one has enough time and money he or she can watch. But very busy business class people can watch those events on television.

In conclusion, watching concerts and sports live and on television have their own merits.
Depending upon viewers’ type of business, availability of time etc one can either attend live program or watch it on television. I don’t see any demerits in any mode irrespective of witnessing it live or watching it on television.

“Live In Small Town or Big City”

Some people prefer to live in a small town. Others prefer to live in a big city. Which place you would prefer to live in? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
-----------------------------------------------

I would prefer to live in a small town instead of a big city. In this essay I shall discuss advantages of living in a small town.

Big cities are over populated and overcrowded. Because of this there are a huge number of buildings, automobiles, air conditioners and various other infrastructure facilities. This turns a big city into a concrete jungle with enormous pollution and heat generation thereby creating and enhancing global warming.

Secondly excessive traffic results into accidents thus causing injuries to the people. Such injuries may result into partial disability, or permanent partial disability or total disablement. Some times such accidents are fatal resulting into deaths of people. However in small towns and country side villages’ possibilities of this danger can be more or less ruled out.

In small towns or countryside villages, thick population, localization of industries and offices is absent thereby environment is pollution free and healthy that is a basic requirement and paramount importance for a healthy living. Secondly farming and agriculture is the major industry in villages hence there is enormous greenery and ample of trees are there which give pure Oxygen to breathe. Secondly Cattle and Poultry in such a healthy atmosphere develop and grow very nicely. Also the milk and eggs, meat etc are pure and fee from contamination.

However in small towns’ job opportunities may be little less as compared to a city hence younger generation may prefer to live in city for a better earning and career prospects.

In nutshell, taking into account the merits of staying in a small town or a countryside village, I would prefer to stay in a small town or countryside village for a healthy and peaceful living.

“Literacy More Important Now Than In Past”

Is the ability to read and write more important today than in the past? Why or why not? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
----------------------------------------

Literacy is the mother of education and that is “Most Important” today. Undisputedly everyone should learn and master the written language. Unless we are literate, we can not access the information needed today. Unlike olden age, in this era, requirement is not only to read the odd signposts on the roads. Now we are expected to absorb the full quantum of written and pictorial information that the Internet provides. We need considerably higher order of skills.

For example while at home we are most of the time with our television set, the visual media. Hence we need to be aware of all forms of media. We need to perceive, and manipulate precisely and correctly as to what is the message and how things work. Media presents huge amount of information especially the internet. Given this mass of information we need to have the skills necessary to understand and precisely pick through it. However, we must not only limit ourselves to see the impact part of the computer or the calculator that speedup and simplify the process but we must know how best to use them optimally. If these technologies are sensitively and intelligently used, they have the potential to influence and enhance our self development process and brighten our future.

We must develop genuinely new skills, required to use computers and navigate the web. Otherwise it is impossible to participate in society and keep pace with the time.

In summary, the Internet is the herald of the new era of access, enlightenment and freedom of information. Unlike early age simply our ability to read and write is not enough now we must be educated enough to keep pace with the time and succeed.

“Learning About Past”

Learning about the past has no value for those of us living in the present. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
---------------------------------------------

In strongly opine that learning about the past is very important for us to live in present and plan for tomorrow. Happenings of past are the lessons and the reference and guide for today and tomorrow. There is of course no point in brooding over the past mistakes or misfortunes. Nevertheless to learn not to repeat those mistakes is most important.

History is all about the past and it is taught in schools, colleges, and universities as an exclusive subject. Had past been unimportant there would be no subject like History in the academic field. Over and above scholars do great research work and even doctorate degrees in the subject of History.

History builds very vital and important data base for every sphere of life. For example, a patient’s health record gives idea to the doctor for further course of treatment. Likewise record of past performance gives an idea to the employer with regard to promotion of the employee to next higher post in hierarchy. Similarly past record of a project gives idea to the executors of a similar new project as to how to proceed with project execution. Furthermore in an industrial establishment, past record of accidents and fire hazard gives idea for prevention of reoccurrences. This also gives an idea as to what measures should be taken and what material and equipments must be procured and made readily available for safety of men, material and money. Nonetheless past record of a criminal gives an idea to the jail authorities whether or not the criminal deserves any leniency.

In conclusion past history is the most valuable data base, without which our performance and success in present and future are impossible and learning about past is important.

“Learning About Life, the Best Way”

Some people believe that the best way of learning about life is by listening to the advice of family and friends. Other people believe that the best way of learning about life is through personal experience. Compare the advantages of these two different ways of learning about life. Which do you think is preferable? Use specific examples to support your preference.
-----------------------------------------------

Listening to the advice of family and friends brings many benefits. Parents with great patience pass on their most valuable advice based on their profound knowledge and vast experience. Sam Levenson in his notable quote says: -

“You Must Learn from the Mistakes of Others. You Can't Possibly Live Long Enough To Make Them All Yourself”.

Parents in the interest of their children wellbeing and for their good teach them what all they know. They expect their children not make the same mistakes which caused them suffering. I strongly believe through my age long experience that parent’s advice is something great and unique and that none can be better than that. Younger of new age may feel those advices as the outdated and old fashioned once, but I can authentically say that no advice can be superior to that of parents and elders. However I don’t mean to say that learning by self and acquired experience has no value.

In contrast, learning through one's personal experience brings many benefits. All the professionals like scientists, doctors, engineers and many more feel that personal experience has a greater importance and they are right. The learning and acquired experience make an individual more confident in his or her work field. They gain more knowledge and experience that will be very helpful and valuable to others in future.

To sum up, it always better to decide and do something after a careful and thorough examination of the pros and cons and analyzing minutely the difference between advices received and own learning plus acquired experience.

“Learn New Way in New Culture”

Sometimes it is very difficult to learn new the way people do things in a new culture. What can we do to make the life easier for newcomers?
------------------------------------------------------

“Every Change Offers Resistance” and “Changes Are Always for Good” is the strong belief since good old days and I too believe in this philosophy.

Every change would offer some resistance and from place to place way of doing the things would differ too and so is the culture. Hence when any person moves to a new place one is faced with this novelty and finds it difficult to be adaptable. Nevertheless not accepting change is like trying to swim against the current that could be extremely strenuous and perhaps in trying to do so one may even drown.

“When In Rome, Do as the Romans Do” this idiom is used to advise people to adapt to the culture of places that they visit. You should try to do as the people do who are from that place. Example: "I can't eat that." Reply: "Oh, give it a try. This is merely an arrangement of a few words that makes that country-man happy, no harm any way.

Visiting a new country means going into a new culture and that is an opportunity for us to see a new place, feel new environment, and know new people, new culture, and new customs. In addition one makes new friends and establishes new contacts. This all brings out a novelty in the life that is most pleasing and exciting. None should miss such golden opportunity.

In conclusion, to facilitate the newcomers to our country and make their life easier, we can politely convey and convince them about our customs etc. and request them to possibly adapt. In reciprocation we too must be too flexible and not rigid about our ways of doing the things when we go to a new place having a different culture.
