Essay: International Tourism Industry

Essay:- International tourism has become the biggest industry in the world. Some people think the advantages of international tourism outweigh its disadvantages. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
    ---------------------------
I fully agree that advantages of international tourism outweigh its disadvantages. Tourism is one of the world’s largest industries and it is developing leaps and bounds worldwide. It is primarily a recreational or leisure activity. It is used for... Business and other purposes too. Tourism has become a very popular global leisure activity.

Over the past some decades, low cost airfares have made global travel much more affordable and attractive. Consequently, many countries have rapidly developed their tourism industries to cash on the trend. Tourism brings many economic benefits to the countries.

Firstly, an increase in the number of tourists calls for a greater demand for new infrastructure and services such as hotels, transport, restaurants, vehicles, ships, aircraft roads, airports etc. Similarly for entertainment of tourists more number of pubs, clubs, theaters, multiplexes etc may be required. This generates more jobs thereby more income for the local population. Moreover, tourism is a “green” industry as it does not cause any pollution like other industries. In fact, tourists are interested in the historical monuments, temples and natural scenes. Hence we must protect and preserve those tourist attraction spots.

Secondly by international tourism, we can know about their culture, the way of living and many more. We socialize with them and get good lot of new information. We build good harmonious relations with them and their countries.

Summarizing, there are hardly any disadvantages of international tourism. Need for more of buildings for hotels, Roads and Airports may lead to some space occupation and more number of vehicles required for transportation may cause slight pollution that is negligible. Also tourism industry generates substantial amount of revenue that adds to the economy of the nation and advantages of International Tourism outweigh its disadvantages. Therefore this industry must be encouraged and optimally developed.

People prefer to watch foreign films rather than locally produced ones. Why do you think this happens? Should the government support local film makers financially?
--------------
I don’t agree to Government funding Film Industry. Why people prefer foreign films to local films, I will elaborate in the following paragraphs together with my point of view towards government funding too.

All living beings need entertainment and human being is no exception to it. Rather human beings need entertainment the most. Film industry optimally fulfills this need of human being.

Another truth is that people need the variety in everything. They need Variety in food, clothes and variety in entertainment. Same pattern of movies for a long time causes the monotony hence people tend to watch foreign films. By watching foreign films they see new faces, new culture, new stories and new places. It is really very exciting and flabbergasting too.

So far as financial condition of Indian film industry is concerned, I think it is a very wealthy industry. Most actors, actresses, producers and directors are multi millionaires. Even others involved in this industry are pretty rich and financially well-off. Hence film industry does not need any financial support from government. Any funds diverted towards film industry would be useless.

As a matter of fact financial support from Government is direly needed by various small cottage industries, farmers and many community development institutions like Old Homes, Orphanages, Hospitals, School and Colleges etc. These days condition of most of the institutions mentioned here are pathetic and those are in a very bad shape due to lack of funds.

Similarly Zoos also need funds from Government for providing good food and healthy living conditions of the inhabitants in the absence of which the wildlife animals, birds, and other rare species may become extinct. Government must fund Forest Department to work more efficiently and effectively toward prevention of killing wild life animals like lions and many more.

In conclusion, Attraction of foreign films is merely for change in entertainment. Film Industry is rich hence no funding by Government is not necessary.
Funds may rather be diverted for development of community and wildlife.
