“Music is Important to People”

People listen to music for different reasons and at different times. Why is music important to many people? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice.

Music plays an important role in our everyday life. We listen to music and feel relaxed. There are many sources from where we can listen to music for example radio, television, jukebox, gramophone, and many alike. Similarly music can be listened by attending musical concerts or ball rooms and dance clubs also. Music keeps us cool and in harmony.

Music can be broadly classified as classical and light. Furthermore music can be vocal and instrumental. Light music can be further categorized into rock-n-roll, foxtrot, and disco, rumba-samba, pop and jazz.

Music is a means of communication too. On national holidays, Presidential Guard of Honor is given by on the wonderful band tunes by the army soldiers to the president and other ministers of the nation. Secondly during weddings, music is played till the end of ceremony. Thirdly all television channels start playing a sad tune on any unfortunate happening of a dignitary passing away, that is a communication of the sad happening. In a way music is a vitally important element of human life.

Music is a highly creative hobby to develop. If one learns good music he or she can become a good singer, instrument player, music director or a musician. Those who are professional musicians earn very handsome money and prestige too. For example in western music, Elvis Priesley and Pat Boone are the renowned singers. Similarly Mohd-Rafi, Mukesh, Kishore, Ms. Lata are renowned in Hindi light music world.

In nutshell, for every occasion in the life different types of music is available as elaborated above and those must be played, listened, and enjoyed.

“Music & Arts As Compulsory Subjects”

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? All students should be required to study art and music in secondary school. Use specific reasons to support your answer.

Art and music are very creative and vast subjects. However it is not necessary that everyone shall be a good musician or good at art. Hence music and art as compulsory subjects sound to be wrong.

It is nice if schools have infrastructure facilities to teach art and music. Those who have a deep aptitude for art and music can take-up those subjects and even master those for that matter. At the same time making subjects of music and art as compulsory, may take a considerable amount of time and energy of students which otherwise he or she can devote towards main subjects like, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, etc. Devoting time to main subjects is a paramount importance for success in the examinations and future career. Hence and art and music may be optional but not compulsory.

Music and Art shall be highly beneficial to those who have an aptitude of learning art and music and aspirant musicians and artists. Many universities have exclusive departments for music and art, and in addition performing art also. Students who study here can be awarded graduation, post graduation and even doctor degree in those faculties.

Subject of Art and Music is very creative and one must learn it. Nevertheless the world is not composed of artists and musicians only, apart from this, everyone can not become artist and musician nor art and music form a base or constitute the foundation of academia. Those are purely hobby subjects.

In conclusion art and music are purely hobby subjects and must be taught to those who opt for and should not be made compulsory for all students.
