“Dormitories versus Apartments”

Students at universities often have a choice of places to live. They may choose to live in university dormitories, or they may choose to live in apartments in the community. Compare the advantages of living in university housing with the advantages of living in an apartment in the community. Where would you prefer to live? Give reasons for your preference.

================================

I prefer dormitory to apartments. Dormitories are meant for accommodation of students within the campus or nearest. Students are allowed to stay here at a reasonable rent in shared accommodation or single seated room depending upon availability.

The main benefit of dorms is nearness to college that helps punctuality, nominal rent hence cost effective, most dormitories have common mess that facilitates supply of breakfast, meals, snacks and tea or coffee. Furthermore library is easily available that facilitates studies. In addition one can enjoy indoor games like Badminton, Table-Tennis, (Ping-Pong) and Caroms etc in his or her spare time.

Living in a dormitory provides increased motivation to go to class. If one witnesses a group of students going to the class, he or she also get ready fast and go to class instead of crawling back into the bed. Moreover, fellow students would knock on your door when it’s time to head to class, or to help you with notes or homework if you miss a day or two or don’t understand what’s happening in a particular course. This is highly beneficial.

The disadvantages of living in apartment are it may be far from the college thereby one has to spend more money and time to attend classes. A minor problem in transport would result into student’s absence from the college. Also there is none with whom you can share about your missed classes, lectures, homework etc. And lastly depending on the nature of your neighbors, they might seem to be downright unfriendly because they are all busy with their business and have no time to talk to you..
In conclusion, during student life, one must prefer dormitory to apartments.
