“Kind of Worker to Hire”

If you were an employer, which kind of worker would you prefer to hire: an inexperienced worker at a lower salary or an experienced worker at a higher salary? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
------------------------------------------

Employing a person would largely depend upon two major factors. Primarily the nature of job and secondly time span. If I want to employ a worker to run my production plant with ultra modern machinery and infrastructures, I would opt for an experienced person with high salary. But if I want people to run my production plant over the years to come, I may employ young fresher at low salary as trainee apprentices. I train them suitably and on completion of training successfully, absorb them as independent Production Operators and build a powerful team and workforce.

When a young and inexperienced worker is recruited it is most important that training begins immediately. These workers should be trained on the specific job function they will perform including how to safely perform the job. New workers should be given training for personal protection, proper lifting, working with or around electricity, and slips, trips, and falls. Employees must be trained to use “Personal Protective Equipment” that protects them from bodily injuries.

Management and the new inexperienced worker are like partners in a workplace. Management expects the worker to be efficient and productive. At the same time the company has full responsibility to ensure these employees are receiving proper training and work under qualified supervisors who understand the transition between inexperienced and experienced workers. Young and inexperienced workers present a major challenge to managers and supervisors. Supervisors must ensure that fresher don’t end up on the injury right from the day one.

In conclusion a young and energetic trained worker is more likely to give higher production as compared to an experienced aged worker. Younger generation is the national asset and the nation builder.
