This cannot be generalized that watching television by children is bad. There are many advantages of television watching by children during their student age.
Television is a means of mass communication. It is a mode of information and entertainment. Television is the most popular media these days. Television has replaced Radio & listening to radio has become obsolete now.
Several Educational, Training & Developmental programs are aired on television. These are highly beneficial for the students community and also community by large. Many awareness programs on Health & Environment play very important role in our lives. News watching keeps viewers update about the latest news at the same time viewers increase and improve in their vocabulary.
Majority of population use television for news and entertainment. One gets latest information through television and can keep pace with the time. Needless to say “Information Is Power”.
Television also helps promoting business through advertisements of variety of latest products & services. Besides there are many exclusive business channels that give minute-by-minute information on Stock Markets & the Business World.
However many advertisements of lady’s sleek garments, cosmetics and other beauty products are highly sexy. In addition, Crime movies, Horror movies and Sexy movies spoil mental and physical health of viewers. At the same time this habit is a parasite that eats away entire precious time of students and they don’t study and thereby they may spoil their careers.
In conclusion it just can’t be generalized that television watching by children is bad. The usefulness of television is more compared to its ill effects. In light of this, parents must exercise strict supervision and control on television watching by their children.
