“Equal Funds for Sports & Libraries”

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Universities should give the same amount of money to their students’ sports activities as they give to their university libraries. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

I do not agree to the term “same amount”. Fund allocation is a company policy and depends on need and availability. I shall elaborate my view point in this essay.

The objective of any university is to educate students to acquire highest academic qualification. Furthermore provide all possible material, help and assistance for research projects and advanced study. Allocate funds accordingly.

A library is a collection of information, sources, resources and services, organized for use, and maintained by a university. In the more traditional sense, it is the collection of books. This collection and services are used by people who choose not to buy or cannot afford to buy an extensive collection themselves. Research scholars need extensive material and no individual can be expected to buy and possess this large quantum of material.

Nevertheless, sports are equally important for students thus universities must not ignore sports activities. There must be enough fund allocation for sport activities. Games and Sports are important not only from the view point of entertainment and amusement of the students but equally from the view point of their fitness and sound physical and mental health. After the student’s prolonged monotony when students are totally worked up, games and sports is the only way to overcome the stress of monotony. Some team of university students may generate very high class sportsmen or players of international standards. Those shall bring a very good name and fame to the university.

In nutshell a university, depending upon its policy matter, may or may not allocate equal fund for library and sports. However enough fund allocation must be there for sports such that sports and games activities don’t get slowed down or paralyzed.
