Some
people believe that the government should pay for and offer housing to people
who lost their homes or cannot afford them. To what extent do you agree or
disagree?

I
fully agree that government must help the homeless. In this essay I shall
elaborate my point of view.
Government
by definition means a group of people elected by the majority of the population
to govern a country or a state. Government is necessary to the existence of
civilised society. It is responsible for a good governance and administration
in the interest of the population by large. The government must have foolproof “Disaster
Management Plans”, “Contingencies Plan” and “Civil Defence Plan with adequate
funds to cope with such unforseen force majeure.
Due
to natural calamities like earth quakes, tsunami, and floods etc the houses and
buildings collapse and cause loss of man and material. Many people die and several
become orphan and are left alone in this world to struggle till death. People
sustain severe physical injuries. The injuries may be to an extent of partial
or permanent partial or total disablement to an extent of losing limbs even.
Those who survive are rendered homeless and penny less which is extremely
pathetic. Hence as a part of good governance and administration government must
ensure the rehabilitation victims how best it can.
In
nut shell, Government by definition itself means a group of people elected by
the majority of the population to govern a country or a state. Government is
necessary to the existence of civilised society. It is responsible for good
governance and administration in the interest of the population by large. We must consider that "shelter"
is a basic human need and right as well. Hence government must ensure adequate
rehabilitation of victims of such disasters and those homeless who are below
poverty line.
