government’s role is only to provide defense capability and urban
infrastructure, such as roads, water and power. All other services as
education, health, and social security should be provided by private groups or
individuals in the community.

I don’t agree
at all that government’s responsibility ends once it has provided defence capability
and infrastructures like roads, water and power. Other services like education,
health, social security must be taken care by private parties and individuals
in the community.
By
definition Government means the governing body of a nation, state or
community. The system by which a nation,
state or community is governed. This consists of a group of people that governs
a community. Said group
is elected by way of elections and voting by the public. It forms policies,
laws and rules and ensures the implementation.
Any government is the most
powerful group that can do and undo the things in the interest of the nation
and its population.
Population by
large pays heavy taxes like Income Tax, Sales Tax, Road Tax, Gift Tax, Wealth
Tax, House Tax and many more. This generates a huge chunk of money with the
government. Also population bestows confidence and trust in this government
that it will take full care of them in all the contingencies. Hence it is a
moral duty of the government to provide all other services like education,
health and social security too. Good governance must provide full help for to
the population in the eventualities like force majors like earth quake, tsunami, floods, fire
hazards etc. Good governance must as well take care of the victims in the unforeseen
eventualities like road accidents, air crashes, vessel capsizing etc for their rehabilitation.
In nutshell
I am of the view that government is like “God Father” to the population by
large and must take care of the population in totality. Provide rescue and help
in the unforeseen unfortunate happenings. Government cannot simply provide a
few facilities and leave balance task to private parties and population.
