“Remember Special Gifts Forever”

People remember special gifts or presents that they have received. Why? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
----------------------------------

Giving and receiving gifts is one of the ancient customs that have been preserved throughout time and now, in the age of modern technology, has reached its climax. Gift giving is an art and there are schools that specialize in teaching people which gift is best suited for what occasion. Needless to say those gifts have become over the period of time an industry, with billions of dollars made annually based on the natural desire humans have for giving and receiving.

In essence, a gift remains a symbol of care, love, respect, admiration, commemoration etc. Gifts make giver very happy while the receiver is delighted. The occasions for giving gifts are broadly; birthday, wedding, wedding anniversary, passing an examination, getting new job or festivals like Xmas, New Year, Valentine day, etc. It is customary in India to give gifts to domestic servants and maids on festivals of Deepawali and Holi.

By giving gifts, we express our feelings to a person. So, gifts have been throughout history a way in which people express feelings. Gift is a method of positive nonverbal communication and motivation. Hence gift giving and receiving should always remain purely good gestures of love, respect, care, concern, with utmost courtesy.

Summarizing, my employer, an oil corporation in India, gives gifts to the employees. Wrist watch upon completion of 15 years of service, silver coin on completion of 20 years, gold coin upon completion of 25 years and two gold coins upon completion of 35 years of service. I am also a recipient of those. Those gifts are given incentives and admiration an employee’s dedicated service to the corporation. These gifts boost the morale of an employee. Gifts are most valuable and worth remembering always.

(i) How can the use of private vehicles be reduced? (ii) Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your experience. (iii) Write minimum 250 Words.
------------------------------------------

The invention and proliferation of the motor vehicle has improved the human lives appreciably. In modern days, complete transportation of men and material is carried out with the help of motor vehicles. Private motor vehicles in the modern era, for us are not luxury, but a necessity rather. No doubt it is treated as a “Status Symbol” too. We think nothing while jumping in the car and driving many a miles on a trip or for our jobs. But looking to the future, researchers are constantly trying to find better ways of transporting with more fuel efficient and environment friendly vehicles redesigning the engines and appearance.

For going to school or college, attending office or business, shopping or socializing and numerous daily activities we are dependent on motor vehicles. Motor vehicles we use are in the shape of a car, scooter or motorbike depending upon our need, nature of work and affordability. While the life has become very fast and time is extremely scarce we have to cope up with the work or the business and keep pace with time with the help of our motor vehicle.

Nevertheless motor vehicles do cause quite some air pollution in environment by way of exhaust fumes. Too many motor vehicles amount to excessive heat generation which in turn dissipates into the environment and that adds to “Global Warming”.

Maximum use of public transport, proper maintenance and up-keep of private motor vehicles, use of right fuel, switching off engines while waiting at a traffic signal on road crossings and railway crossings, and minimizing use of one’s car by amicable car pooling practices can contribute largely towards minimizing the use of private motor vehicles.

“Reasons for College or University Education”

People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, and increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
--------------------------------

I don’t think people attend colleges primarily for new experience. I do agree that people attend college for acquiring higher qualification and knowledge. New experiences however automatically follow.

World is dramatically developing and changing day and on. In this fast changing scenario, one must continuously learn and educate himself to keep pace with the time and be the Fittest. Because survival is for the Fittest and one who can not keep pace with the time cannot survive. For this reason one has to have high qualification and knowledge by attending college and universities. Schools can impart education only up to school level but acquire higher qualification one has to attend college.

Everywhere professional qualification is most necessary now. Be it doctor, engineer, pilot, business manager, lawyer, astronaut, builder unless one is adequately qualified he or she can’t be employed for that job hence college education is necessary.

Computerization is so fast improving that one must keep up-to-date information of the latest development and products. Now Air Booking, Rail Booking, Shopping, Banking and all businesses are available on line. One can perform all those operations at his desktop and laptop if one has acquired necessary qualification through college education.

We are in the era of technology and automation. We are passing through very tough competition in all walks of life. Survival is for the fittest and one who is unfit is simply thrown out and has no survival. Hence none can afford the luxury of not attending college and university for acquiring qualification and knowledge.

To conclude, College education is fundamentally meant for acquiring higher academic, technical qualifications and knowledge.

“Read Fiction or Watch Movie”

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Reading fiction (such as novels and short stories) is more enjoyable than watching movies. Use specific reasons and examples to explain your position.
--------------------------------------

Reading books is a creative activity and this adds to our knowledge and information that is useful in our student life and business or domestic life. And watching movie gives us entertainment, amusement, and enjoyment those are equally important for every one.

Fiction is not based purely on proven facts. Rather fiction is precisely, an imaginative kind of narration. The word fiction has been derived from the Latin language. Fiction means to form and create. Not necessarily all works of fiction are entirely imaginary. Such works may include people, places, and events that are real also. Furthermore not necessarily all fiction work be artistic, fiction is broadly perceived as a form of art and or entertainment. The ability to create fiction and other artistic works is considered to be a fundamental aspect of human culture, one of the defining characteristics of humanity.

Traditionally, fiction includes novels, short stories, fables, fairy tales, plays, and poems. Now it also encompasses films, comic books, and video games. The Internet has played a major role it has led to new forms of fiction, such as interactive computer games or computer-generated comics. Countless forums for fan fiction can be found online, where loyal followers of specific fictional realms create and distribute derivative stories.
Furthermore, fiction is used for instructional purposes, such as fictional examples used in school textbooks. It is used in propaganda and advertising. It used by parents to perpetuate Santa Claus or to instill beliefs.

In nutshell, it is impossible to generalize and say what is more enjoyable, reading fiction or watching movies. This largely depends upon the taste of an individual. If one has a hobby of reading he or she would enjoy reading or conversely movie watching. However on fiction side, I prefer movie to reading a book.

------------------------------------------

“Raising Children is Most Important Job”

Raising children is the most important thing an adult ever does. Do you agree?
------------------------------

I fully agree to the fact that raising children is the most important thing an adult ever does.

Children are the assets not only for the family but for the nation too. Whatever children learn in the tender age, they learn from parents and from the environment in the home. It is most important for adult members in the family to take care that a healthy environment of peace and harmony is maintained and children are exposed to a healthy environment of peace and harmony and not the sick environment of conflicts and every day quarrels.

Secondly in this fast age some parents don’t find time for children as they are busy making more and more money. These results into children suffering lack of love and attention and this in turn can cause serious psychological problems that are most difficult to handle or control. As an outcome of this children may become too offensive, arrogant and violent or conversely they may become too timid or suppressed with mental retardation. Parents also have to take care not to consume drugs or alcohol or watch crime, horror or sex movies as every child wants to become big quickly and child imitates adults. Also no such books or literature be in easy access of children. This can be most detrimental to the child’s mental health. Adults must site a good example to their kids. Never forget a great saying “Your children will become what you are; so be what you want them to be” says David Bly .

In conclusion only adult members are the character and personality builders of their children and play most important role their lives hence raising children is the most important task that an adult can ever perform.

“Quick Decision Making”

Decisions can be made quickly, or they can be made after careful thought. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The decisions that people make quickly are always wrong. Use reasons and specific examples to support your opinion.
-------------------------------

I agree that decisions can be taken quickly and thoughtfully. I don’t agree that quickly taken decisions are always wrong. I will elaborate my view point in the following paragraphs.

To be able to take quick decision is the quality of a good manager. However there is a vast difference in quickly taken decision (i.e. quick decision) and a hasty decision. Hasty and hurriedly taken decisions are always thoughtless and wrong whereas a quick decision means prompt and witty decision.

Decision-making is an important skill that enables a manager to function properly. However some managers find this task quite tough because the success depends on them. Managers also encounter fear of making the wrong decision because a huge amount of money and wealth is at stake. Some managers might wonder though how other managers take this task of decision -making so easily. Here, it is vital to know the importance of decision-making, understand the concepts and make effective decisions. When one works at home with internet marketing, making the right decisions is not always the easiest thing to do.

The foremost thing a manager must realize in decision-making that there is no right or wrong answer. One might be looking back at the past and thinking that he or she made the “wrong” decision. But one needs to put things into right perspective. Decision is in itself, a choice between available alternatives, every choice is correct; one must find the best one.

In conclusion, a manager must never make hasty decisions. One must carefully think on each option and weigh their worth before making a decision. Sometimes managers may have to take fast decisions. Remember fast or quick decision does not mean a hasty decision.
